This workshop assesses your academic progress by examining several key areas including calculating GPA setting academic goals, the general education studies curriculum and planning for future semesters.
Plan an academically successful semester. This workshop will help students review their syllabus and predict their semester GPA. This workshop will also help students organize their time based upon their academic and social commitments. Finally, students will consider how to best maximize their textbook reading efforts through critical thinking.
Every student takes in and processes information differently. This workshop will help students discover which learning style best fits their academic patterns. The students will learn different memory techniques that best suit their individual learning style.
This workshop helps students learn successful tips for reading at the collegiate level. It includes highlighting techniques and questions students should ask themselves to help convey knowledge when reading texts. This workshop discusses the value of effective note taking. The Cornell System of note taking is introduced to students as a standard method of note taking. The workshop then suggests ideas so that the student may develop a personalized note taking process.
This workshop helps students prepare an effective study schedule, decide where and when to study, as well as arrange notes and textbook readings into an organized study plan.
This workshop will discuss special strategies for making your next semester a success. General education requirements will also be discussed.
The workshop shares general test preparation techniques. Students will learn specific strategies for multiple choice, true and false, matching and essay tests.
This workshop includes suggestions for planning long-term, short-term and daily schedules that will meet a student’s individual needs based upon academic and social commitments. This workshop also recommends approaches that may help students overcome procrastinations.
This workshop addresses issues transfer students confront in their transition to EMU. Campus resources will also be discussed.
