Holman Learning Center Support for Access Services Office’s Testing Accommodation

Holman Learning Center supports EMU’s Access Services Office (ASO) by helping to provide special testing accommodations for students registered with ASO and certified to receive testing accommodations. ASO will provide students with directions on how to request special testing accommodations from their faculty or from Holman Learning Center or CATE Lab ASO gives the student HLC’s test request form which is to be filled out and submitted to HLC a minimum of one week prior to the requested test date.

Faculty sometimes provides the special testing accommodation. If faculty chooses to provide testing services such as Extended Time or a Quiet Testing location in their own department, they are more than welcome to do so. The student would then just work with his/her faculty to determine time and place.

Communications with Parents

Parents of first year students receive a newsletter with information about HLC workshops, academic deadlines and success tips for first year student twice in fall semester and twice in winter semester.

Twice a month HLC sends short informational e-mails to all first year student parents for whom we have e-mail addresses.

The First Year Academic Support Program

Holman Learning Center has created a program that enables this information to be disclosed to parents. We can share information with parents of first-year students through the University’s First Year Academic Support Program. Your son or daughter must sign the Release of Progress Report Form in order to participate in this program.
