The Wade H. McCree, Jr., Incentive Scholarship Program awards a four-year tuition-based scholarship to students in the Detroit Public School System who show academic promise during their eighth grade year. The program encourages students to pursue their educational goals, graduate from high school with honors, and attend a four-year Michigan higher education institution.
When inducted, Wade McCree recipients and their parents sign an agreement that they will make a conscientious effort to achieve and maintain the standards of the scholarship program during their high school years. By signing this agreement, the entire family becomes involved in the participant’s educational success.
If the Wade McCree recipient graduates high school with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) and has obtained a minimum ACT score of 21, he or she will receive the Wade McCree Scholarship, based on the terms of the agreement. This scholarship will enable the student to enroll full-time at Eastern Michigan University.
