The Pre-College Programs at Holman Learning Center are designed to introduce middle and high school students from academically and or economically disadvantaged backgrounds to the university environment.
Programs highlight the opportunities afforded by a college education, requirements for admission and financial aid, and career pathways for students to explore. We stress the importance of college expectations, study skills, time management, goal setting, and motivation.
Students who participate in Pre-College Programs activities are more likely to complete high school, attend Michigan or national universities, and move into productive and satisfying careers.
Pre-College Programs are organized by the Program Coordinator under the supervision of the Director of the Holman Learning Center.
The Program Coordinator can be reached (734) 487-2133 or in Room G-04 Halle Library, Holman Learning Center, Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti MI 48197.
Since 2000, the Faculty and Tutor Appreciation Day has recognized and rewarded faculty, lecturers, HLC individual tutors and Supplemental Instruction(SI) leaders who have displayed excellent teaching and learning strategies.
Recipients can be nominated by any faculty, lecturer or EMU student by picking up a nomination flyer at Holman Learning Center, G-04 Halle Library.
